Shark Blood Blues

Scientists at La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia claim to have found evidence that antibodies found in Shark blood may be able to fight cancer in humans. It has been known for a long time that Sharks have extremely resilient immune system and for decades Sharks have been exploited [read: killed] for their cartilage for quack cures that claim to cure everything from small dicks to cancer. Shark antibodies are extremely tough, and this new research proved that human stomach acid does not kill them. This means that people could ostensibly eat Shark antibodies [read: drink Shark blood] without the Shark antibodies dying. It is theoretically possible that these Shark antibodies can then be jammed around with in a lab to make them aggressive to certain human disease. While this may be promising, we do not like the idea of Sharks being exploited for more products than they already are. We must repeat: EATING SHARKS IS NOT HEALTHY FOR PEOPLE. Therefore, let's hope that this news doesn't make people hunt Sharks in greater numbers because they think that Sharks are medicine. The last thing we need while facing a sharp decline in Shark populations, is a perceived good reason to kill Sharks.

There is no good reason to kill Sharks.
Until all research is in, all animal-based medicine should be treated as quackery,
