Clubber Please.

The Canadian government is suing Sea Shepherd for $487,000 in order to pay for the costs it has incurred since seizing the Sea Shepherd vessel Farley Mowat last April for viewing a Seal Hunt "without a permit." George Orwell anyone?

The aim of a joke is not to degrade the human being, but to remind him that he is already degraded. -- George Orwell
The Seal Hunt brings in less than $25 million a year. The Canadian government spends more than that fighting environmental organizations like Sea Shepherd and lobbying European governments to keep the industry afloat.
"I think Canadians will be shocked to see how much money the government is willing to spend to prevent people from monitoring the seal hunt," said Sheryl Fink, research specialist at the IFAW.
The European Union is poised to ban Canadian Seal products any day now. When that happens, the Canadian Seal industry will be worth less than the Canadian Football League. In other words, it would save the Canadian taxpayer money if their government just dolled out welfare to each and every Seal Clubber in Newfoundland to sit on their asses and drink themselves to death--which is what they do now anyway when they aren't clubbing Seals. It is not a radical notion--the mainstream Canadian media is now hip to this, and Canadians in general are overwhelmingly against the Seal Hunt.
