Atlantis Hotel: No Honor, No Respect

It has been over 140 days since Sammy the Whale Shark has been held captive on display in an aquarium at the Atlantis Hotel Dubai. At nearly 40-feet, the endangered Whale Shark is the largest species of fish on earth and does not belong in captivity. In October, the management of Atlantis Dubai said that after consulting with CITES, the convention on international trade in endangered species, the Atlantis Dubai would be soon releasing Sammy into the wild. November came, and the hotel threw their $20,000,000 celebrity-studded grand opening gala. Many of the more forgiving hearts in the animal rights community figured that they had used Sammy enough and he would be released soon after the grand opening debauch. It never happened. It is now quite clear beyond any shadow of doubt that the management of the Atlantis Hotel Dubai are liars and never had any intention of releasing Sammy.

Kylie Minogue plays the whore entertains the blood-drinking decadent weirdos at the Atlantis Dubai grand opening orgy.
As the holiday season bore down upon us, Gulf News decided to give them a further extension to release a statement about the whale shark. A final reminder was sent on January 5, 2009. Silence. This clearly shows that the management of Atlantis has no respect for the Press and no sense of accountability towards the residents of the country or the community it is based in.
The Gulf News has been the one breaking most of the news on this story from the beginning, and now they are concluding finally that the Atlantis Hotel have lied to the public, and are no ceasing their coverage of the story in protest--a strange idea...
We will not stop posting whatever we can find, but we would like to urge those at the Gulf News to keep their ears up...they know Dubai, and we know...the internet...and, uh, certain neighborhoods in Brooklyn and Tijuana.
