Nature Has A Darker Sense of Humor Than We Do.

Here is an interesting *ahem* story of rehabilitation and personal triumph:
In December, a 6-to-8-year-old Dolphin was found distressed in Anclote Key, Florida. The Dolphin was emaciated, its lungs full of pneumonia, and he was beat up pretty badly. The Dolphin, named Dunham was taken to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium and put under veterinary care. After eight months of antibiotics, fluids, and rehab for gastritis, Dunham gained 30 pounds and was deemed healthy enough for release into the wild. This morning, with much media fanfare, Dunham was released from Honeymoon Island with a transmitter attached to his dorsal fin so he could be monitored.
Dunham the Dolphin, such a cutey patootey!
Soon Dunham joined a passing Dolphin pod and headed south toward Clearwater Beach. Researchers and general Dolphin phans watched cheered on brave Dunham as he struggled to acclimate himself to the wild. Then, just a few hours after the celebrated release, Dunham surfaced, spouting blood. Onlookers watched in horror at the dark irony of nature as a very large Bull Shark slammed into Dunham, jamming him hard enough to expose his spine. The Clearwater Marine Aquarium reached to the scene and euthanized Dunham on the spot.

Dunham, He Dead. Actually this is not Dunham. This is a much milder Bull Shark/Dolphin encounter. Dunham's was...uh, much much worse.
UPDATE: There have been many conflicting reports about the death of Dunham. Some are now saying that Dunham was jammed by at least two Sharks, a Bull Shark and a larger Tiger Shark before the team of "Dolphans" stepped in to deliver Dunham's coup de grâce.
Dunham proves once again that you can't cheat fate. Nature will get you. You will be jammed. We will all be jammed.
Jam on, nature. Jam on.

Maybe we do in fact have a darker sense of humor than nature.
1030 good posts to 1 disappointing post is still a pretty stellar record isn't it?
