Why are so many swimming world records being broken in Beijing? Sharks!

The Speedo LZR Racer Suit worn by space mutant Michael Phelps and most other Olympic swimmers--although not the picture full body Borat model--was designed with help by NASA and the skin of preserved Sharks. Shark skin is covered with dermal denticles, which are tightly layered scale-like teeth that manage the flow of water in the most evolutionarily efficient way. Speedo designed their new suits to mimic this flow of water, dramatically reducing drag allowing the swimmer to literally slide though the water like a Shark.
