EIGHTEEN!

This morning, 26-year-old surfer, Alexander Zgura was sitting on his board in the surf near the jetties on the New Smyrna Beach side of Ponce de Leon Inlet when he became EIGHTEEN! The presumed 6-foot Shark grabbed Alexander by the lower left leg. Alexander allegedly suffered two individual bites which left 13-to-15 separate lacerations. That is fairly severe for a New Smyrna Special. Beach officers blamed the bite on a "large mullet run" happening near the Ponce de Leon Inlet. Apparently Mullets, who belong at NASCAR events not the beach, irritate Sharks too. It has only been a couple days since New Smyna's SEVENTEEN, where the now named partier, 20-year-old Jacab Shoup was bitten on the left foot. Keep in mind that Volusia County's record was 22 jams in 2001.
Last Wednesday, the friendly competition over at swimatyourownrisk reported that there was a claim of a Shark bite at Sanibel Island, Florida. We didn't comment then because the bite was still largely unconfirmed. There was more on the incident today and it is looking more like 47-year-old Jack Miller was nipped on the right arm by a Shark. There is no word as to whether Jack Miller has a mullet, but it is rumored that he is a doctor.

Artist rendering of Jack miller borrowed from our friends at Human Uunder Construction.
