South Sea Shark Party

Joel Bacud, a 39-year-old Filipino fisherman was fatally jammed in the South China Sea last Thursday. Joel was three hours off Paoay in Ilocos Norte when he jumped into the water to check on one of his fishing nets...uh, you can guess the rest.
The shark gnawed Bacud’s back, particularly at the right side, his right arm had a big wound while his upper torso had nine scratches of the shark’s teeth.
Louie, Joel's 17-year-old son had to take his lifeless father back to shore.
Oceanic Whitetip...they party.
While it is unknown what species of Shark chewed Joel up, it could have been a Tiger Shark, but we're just feeling the Oceanic Whitetip today. They are large, open water, and aggressive. Since Joel was from a fairly remote fishing village, we may never know what kind of Shark it was...unless Louis starts talking.
It seems like we haven't posted a Shark jam in a while. I wonder why...oh, it is because they are super-friggin-rare. Don't swim in or around nets full of bloody, struggling fish and you should be fine.
