Shark Hero: Luke Tipple

We are going to go about this post differently than we usually do. Instead of pointing out the clear ethical and physical shortcomings of trophy Shark fishermen, like Vic Hislop, Bucky Dennis, and Mark "the Shark" Quartiano, we are going to sing the praises of Luke Tipple, a Shark diver and marine biologist. Luke Tipple is founder of the group "Shark Free Marinas" whose goal is pretty self explanatory. They are trying to get popular fishing marinas around the world to police themselves and no longer allow Sharks to be landed at their docks.
Last Week, Mark Quartiano did what he does best. Kill a breeding age Shark and display it publicly and gruesomely on the docks to brag about. In this last case, it was a 1000-pound 12-foot female Tiger Shark.
"On a personal note, it's tragic to see a shark like that killed; but on a scientific sense, it's a vulnerable species and there's really no excuse for slaughtering a mature, breeding-age vulnerable species in the ocean."--Like Tipple

Luke and Shark Free Marinas have contacted the Sea Isle Marina in Miami where Quartiano keeps his boat and hauls in his murdered Sharks and asked them to join their initiative to conserve Sharks by going completely Shark-free. Sea Isle Marina has not yet given a definitive answer, but if Luke is persuasive enough, Quartiano will have to find a new home for his bloody bullshit. Let's wish Shark Free Marinas all the best. But, if you'd like to send a friendly nudge to the good people over at Sea Isle Marina, go for it. It is still a free internet. Remember, be as polite as possible...not everyone is as welcoming to threats, profanity, disrespect, and indignation as we are here at The Chum Slick.
Mark "the Shark" Quartino...insert your own emasculating insult here.
Luke Tipple...a bit classier than Mark, no?
Our friends at Underwater Thrills often have news of the Shark Free Marinas initiative. Hit them up.
