An Open Letter to Volusia County

This is what will happen to the local residents of New Smyrna if their beaches are closed.
On the Web at volusia.org/beach/default .htm under Shark Facts, the information was old -- it says it was updated April 15, 2002 -- and it does not seem credible. The site reads: "All incidents are recorded as a bite, even if it's a scratch. . . . Once they bite a human, a warm-blooded animal, they quickly realize their mistake and let go. . . . Most shark bite victims are surfers who flock to the inlet."
Why is the county recording these incidents such as a bite or scratch when some of these injuries are permanent, serious injuries? Are there other incidents which are not even documented or counted due to their seriousness? The public has a right to know. Have there been more than 11 shark bites in 2008 but not documented due to their seriousness or because the county classifies them as a scratch or small bite?
Are you friggin' retarded? They are saying that they record each bite as a bite even if it is just a scratch. If you want to know how serious each bite is, just look on the internet, there are plenty of great sites that document Shark bites...like www.thechumslick.com for instance.
Why is the county indicating that these sharks commit mistakes once they bite and quickly "let go"? The county is providing a false sense of security and minimizing the shark threat.
Now we know that you are retarded. The county is indicating these Sharks commit mistakes because they are committing mistakes. Brenda should go back to watching Fox News and peeing her panties about terrorism or illegal aliens...THEY ARE COMING TO GET YOU! *Great, and now we are out of smart-ass pictures.*
Why is the county indicating that most shark-bite victims are surfers? The 6-year-old boy who sustained a cut last week was not a surfer. On April 1, 2007, a 7-year-old boy was playing in the shallow waters near the Crawford Beach approach in New Smyrna Beach and was attacked by a shark that left 14 to 16 puncture wounds on the back of his leg.
Okay, two out of eleven this year were not surfers...most are still surfers you math wiz you.
I am requesting that the county immediately close this beach or implement reasonable policies and procedures to minimize these shark bites by providing effective policies which limit the number of shark bites. I am also requesting that the county provide accurate and reliable statistics on the number of shark bites.
Again, you are retarded. No one is dying, no science is saying that the beach needs to be closed...It is known as the Shark Bite Capital of the World. What else do you need to know?
You want accurate stats--go here.
Thanks for wasting everyone's time. Oh, and this is for you Brenda:

"Congradulations" Brenda you are a recipient of a coveted Bushy, the award for gross ignorance and incompetence.
I should run for Volusia County city council sheesh.

We used to poke a bit of fun at New Smyrna for all the Shark bites, but you know what? If people want to keep going back into the water more power to them.
LONG LIVE NEW SMYRNA BEACH!
Let the landlubbers enjoy their flyover with their irrational fears.
Also, thanks for the linky-poo, NSB Mom.
Love,
